Although he lives in New York City, James’ subject is the world. His early life as a priest and psychotherapist informed his vision and his search for images containing clues to the spiritual dimension at the heart of life.

In his travels, Nicholls has focused on the connectedness at the center of all traditions, the unity of human experience. Through love of the poetic and graphic image, using only natural light, he depicts the world as it is, while seeking to portray the sacred, ineffable realm of the inner life.
